SportsWorld coaches come from the world stage of volleyball.
|
|
SportsWorld is represented by a broad range of highly qualified coaches with diverse backgrounds of experience and success.
Our coaches have built championship winning teams in “indoor club volleyball” and “beach volleyball” by helping the individual reach
his or her potential - which in turn improves the team.
Our staff, more than any other, have traveled the world playing volleyball at international levels. This provides our players experienced coaching at very
high levels of skill and strategy; while the depth of our coaching staff provides SportsWorld the ability to match coaching-experience across the widest
span of team-potential.
All, have a positive, encouraging approach to coaching and an untarnished record of working with young people. |

Roenicke, Ross Win Historic Gold Medal at Worlds
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Sept. 19, 2010) The U.S. womens beach volleyball team of Tara Roenicke and Summer Ross made history on Sunday as
the pair won the gold medal at the 2010 SWATCH FIVB Junior (Under-21) World Championships in Alanya, Turkey.
Roenicke (Alta Loma, Calif.) and Ross (Carlsbad, Calif.) defeated Italys Marta Menegatti and Viktoria Orsi Toth in the final match, 19-21, 26-24,
15-13 in 1 hour, 14 minutes, the longest match in the entire tournament for either gender. The U.S. team had leads in all three sets and had to fight back
to stay in the match and win the final two sets over the more experienced Menegatti and Orsi Toth.
|
|

|
|
Roenicke, 19, and Ross, 17, are the first U.S. team of either gender to medal at the FIVB Junior World Championships. Ross also became the first athlete
of either gender to win both the FIVB Youth World Championships and the FIVB Junior World Championships in the same year.
Ross won the youth title with Jane Croson (Lakewood, Calif.) in July in Porto, Portugal before returning to Alanya where she finished fifth in last years
junior tournament with Jazmin Machado (Encinitas, Calif.).
After the Italians won the first set, the Americans had several leads evaporate in the second set. After eight ties the U.S. team finished it on a Roenicke
kill off of an Orsi Toth block attempt. In the third set, the Italians overcame an 11-6 deficit to tie the score at 13-13 before the United States secured
the gold medal on Ross kill to the back line followed by her stuff of Menegattis block attempt at the net.
Climbing to the top of the podium, Roenicke and Ross marched to the gold medal by first beating Check Republics Eliska Galova/Adela Machova (21-12,
21-18 in 33 minutes), then besting Spains Maria Corral/Paula Soria (21-17, 26-24) and Polands Beata Galek/Kinga Kolosinka (19-21, 21-14, 15-9
in 48 minutes) in pool play.

Tyler Lucas
|
 |
 |
|
The eldest son of a single mother and a devoted brother to his disabled sibling.
Tyler grew up on the shores of Southern California and at the age of 9, he started his athletic career as an enthusiastic student of taekwondo.
He and others soon discovered that he had natural athletic talent.
He began playing in organized youth leagues. Baseball, Soccer and Basketball, and making All stars each season.
Finding success in all the sports he played. He couldn't make a choice between one despite season's sometimes overlapping. He never tired. Racing between
playing in a game, then a practice for another sport and then training at the dojo.
As his body structure begin to form, it was obvious that the one sport he didn't play he was well suited for. But football would have to wait until high
school. Because he was physically larger than his peer age group.
Before entering high school Tyler took up and competed in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Tyler played high school Football (nose guard) "lettered" | Indoor Volleyball (middle blocker, setter, opposite) "lettered" | Track
& Field (shot put, discus) "lettered" | Basketball.
In his high school years beach volleyball was starting to catch his attention.
Heading to college to play football. He just grew more excited and interested in playing beach volleyball. Against his body type and what some people told
him about what he could accomplish playing football. He traded in the grass & cleats, for sand & bare feet.
And in 2007, made the decision to pursue a career in pro beach volleyball; playing in the AVP, CBVA, GAV, EVP & Karch Kiraly USA Open.
Tyler is a dedicated, focused and hard working individual. With the determination of a champion, and the character of which no one can dispute.

Phu Tran, Ph.D.
|
|
 |
Phu began playing volleyball in junior high during PE classes; then continued playing recreationally throughout high school on their asphalt court -
not a lot of diving.
He then attended Cal Poly Pomona as an undergraduate and while pursuing a Bachleor of Science degree in Physics he participated in several volleyball programs ranging from intermediate to advanced skills.
Phu continued his advanced schooling in Physics at the University of California, Riverside where he earned a Masters degree in Physics and Ph.D. in Experimental
High Energy Particle Physics.
During graduate school at UCR, Phu ran his own intramural volleyball team consisting of graduate students in Physics. He then did his doctorate research at the European Center for Nuclear Research, CERN.
CERN laboratory had many sports clubs including a volleyball club. He played club volleyball on the CERN's men team during the season on the Geneva League
which trained and competed against other club teams within Switzerland.
Phu has been trained and played mainly as an outside hitter, but has also stepped in as an alternate setter and on rare occasion as the setter. During summers
in Switzerland, Phu managed and played in a grass volleyball program for the CERN volleyball club and assisted running the annual end-of-summer grass volleyball
tournament held by the club.
Phu moved back to California to graduate and continued playing recreationally by finding open gyms and a few west-side tournaments.
Then about 6 year ago, a friend ask Phu to play beach volleyball - he did and has been playing beach volleyball recreationally, nearly every weekend since.
Phu was instrumental in coaching our U18 Boys and U18 Girls beach teams to win the 2010 Club Beach Championship for each.
