The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and USA Volleyball (USAV) announced today that beginning in the 2012 Olympics, all men's indoor volleyball uniforms will utilize spandex-style shorts rather than the trunks.
The IOC recently concluded an extensive review of uniform apparel on player performance in game scenarios and discovered that loosely fitted trunks significantly slowed down performance because of unnecessary wind resistance.
IOC spokesperson, Seymore Mahn, stated: "The men's game is one of speed, power and intelligence. Our recent study has isolated a negative factor affecting
speed which is easily corrected by replacing loose fitting trunks with snug fitting spandex shorts." Mr. Mahn added: "We are expecting the same performance
increase for the men as we have seen with the women of indoor volleyball."
U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team Head Coach Hugh McCutcheon added: "I have coached both men's and women's [teams] for the United States and I can tell
you that this game is one of milliseconds. If the men's team can shave-off another fraction of a second from their game by wearing spandex shorts then that's
all the better for the game... and perhaps the spectators." Mr. McCutcheon continued: "If the spandex shorts work as well for the men as they have for the
women in shaving-off time; perhaps we should try and improve our results by shaving-off elsewhere." |

Members-Only Beach Clinic with Olympian Sinjin Smith
Sinjin is regarded as one of the greatest players in beach volleyball history and noted for being the original "King of the Beach."

| Together with longtime partner, Randy Stoklos, Sinjin became the first player to reach 100 career open victories, and still remains atop the leader
board to this day with 146 recorded victories. Sinjin claimed 11 International and World Championships in his 23-year career, more than any other player. |

1st Annual City of Riverside Collegiate Clash & Raincross Cup |
The City of Riverside and SportsWorld hosted the first Inland Empire beach volleyball tournament of 2010. The sold out Raincross Cup Men's Tournament
featured AVP players, club directors, coaches and others on Saturday May 22nd. Ronnie Villanueva Jr. & Andre Osmond won the Men's Championship.
The Collegiate Clash between Women's College teams began Sunday May 23rd at Andulka
Park but was interrupted by rain. The tournament was quickly moved to SportsWorld's indoor beach court where play continued leading up to Riverside
Community College's win of the perpetual trophy for this years' tournament.
Monster Energy Drink provided free product for the adults, while kids enjoyed Vidration
Vitamin Enhanced Water !

SportsWorld VIP Beach Party 7-10pm Friday May 21st for SportsWorld members, guests and participants in the 1st Annual City of Riverside Collegiate Clash
& Raincross Cup. Attendees, played on the newest indoor sand volleyball court in the world alongside special guests, AVP players, coaches, and others.

SportsWorld Boys Club Teams
SportsWorld is the home for club volleyball for Junior Boys in the Inland
Empire. SportsWorld offers a fast paced practice calendar and intense training in preparation for the quick SCVA
club season. SportsWorld continues by hosting the only Boys Club program throughout the summer. Continue to practice high-level volleyball
and tournament after the club-season ends in June. |
